Bristol children’s centre opens its new doors to families

A fun day for families will be taking place this week when a new children’s centre moves into brand new buildings.

The Avonmouth Children’s Centre, will be throwing open its new doors to local people living in Avonmouth and Shirehampton, offering opportunities, support and toddler groups.

Centre Managers Wendy Cottrell and Christine Hicks, said: “Between them, the team here have many years of experience in running community groups and working with young children. Having this new building gives us the opportunity to build on these strengths, within an active and diverse community. We strive to respond to the needs of young children and their families in the area.”

The centre has a training room, creche, meeting room and area for health visitors.

Baby massage groups, breastfeeding groups and a baby clinic will support new mothers with toddler and playgroups for older children.

Based in the grounds of Avonmouth Primary School, the open day will be held on Wednesday 24 February.
