Chopsy Baby is Reviewing… Barbie in A Mermaid Tale 2 DVD

Chopsy Baby Says: Not a bad film. Parents will be able to sit through it at least once.

Rating: 7/10

Barbie in A Mermaid Tale 2, is a sequel to the original 2010 animated movie. Actually, it’s not as bad as you might think. The animation is pretty superb and the surfing is pretty cool. Being half human and half mermaid offers some interesting thought for children as Barbie finds herself caught between the two worlds of under water mermaid princess and on land pro surfer.

The story is a little predictable. Merliah – Barbie, is keen to win a big surf comp down under, cue some emotional disagreement with mermaid mum Queen Calissa who rules the mermaid kingdom of Oceana.

As well as some soul searching, Merliah and her friend have to stop the evil mermaid Aunt Eris from snatching the throne from Queen Calissa.

Will Merliah rescue the kingdom and win the surf comp? And will she find out who she really is?

Best of all…
It’s not as bad as you would think and reasonably endurable for parents.

Could improve…
Nothing. It is what it is.

Basically...
A Barbie adventure suitable for children aged five years upwards.
