Chopsy Baby is reviewing… Bonusprint Photobooks

Bonusprint have been developing family photographs since 1979. Like so many other photo developing brands, they have moved with the times, offering customers a fully interactive website allowing them to take control over their individual photo publishing needs.

These days, it is easy to leave your photographs lurking on a memory stick or hard drive, never seeing the light of day once uploaded to technology.

That is why creating a photobook is such an essential, popular and practical way of accessing those wonderful family photographs.

Photobooks are not a new idea and have been kicking around various online photo developers for some time. Bonusprint are one of the companies who make these kind of books for customers. It is no good for them to do this well. To stand out from the crowd, the quality needs to be outstanding and customers now require at least one money off voucher code for the checkout or special offer or they will go elsewhere.

There are various Bonsuprint photobook styles to choose from. Small to extra large sizes, soft cover or hard cover, spiral ring bound, portrait or landscape. There is the option to pay extra for additional pages or to change the style of photo paper.

To create your book, you upload your selected photographs. You then begin to edit the book. You can choose a style, colour scheme and layout, place the photographs and even add text.

It is best to create your book in one sitting and have photographs already organised and edited in a file on your computer.

Using the software was simple enough, but the option to save the project and return to it later was either well hidden or didn’t exist. This is why it was easiest to create in one sitting.

Once you are happy with the book, its layout and you have positioned the photographs where you would like them, you simply complete the project in the software and you are directed to the shopping basket.

We did find that if you were creating a photobook project, it was not possible to go back and purchase other products, such as a canvas within the same order. This must be possible somehow, but we were unable to fathom out how.

The turnaround for the book is about a week. This is quite long compared to other companies who can do them in around 48 hours. But the quality has been worth the extra wait.

The final book is a lovely quality and outstanding overall. We opted for a portrait book with a hardback cover. We also opted to pay extra for glossy photograph paper which really brings the photographs alive.

The photographs used were taken with a 12 mega pixel digital camera. Some of the quality of the original images was not that great, but they looked awesome in the final print.

Chopsy Baby’s Jen says: “A truly wonderful photobook from Bonusprint. It has quality and style and was reasonably easy to create. It’s fantastic being able to flip through a photobook and look at how your child has grown over the course of a year. I would never have time to do this with photographs on a hard drive.

“Highly recommended.”
