Chopsy Baby is reviewing… Moshi Monster picks for Christmas Stocking Fillers
What are Moshi Monsters?
For anyone above the age of fourteen, Moshi Monsters are likely to shoot straight over heads. But for some reason, being a nine year old girl with a Moshi Monsters comic and a fistful of trading cards makes them the coolest child in the classroom.
Moshi Monsters is an online world for both boys and girls aged around six to twelve years of age. The website is filled with millions of these monsters who form the basis of play, socialising, puzzles and interaction in a safe environment.
Children can choose from one of six virtual pet monsters to adopt which can be fully customised. They then play and interact with others online.
The website has a staggering 50 million registered users world wide. The magazine only launched in February 2011 and is already the largest UK kids title.
Of course, Moshi has made its way in to the real world with a host of merchandising to accompany it. If this isn’t enough moshing for youngsters, Moshi TV, Moshi Live and Moshi Music are all currently under development.
For Christmas, there is plenty from Moshi to keep young fans delighted. The 2012 Official Annual is packed full of Moshi things that look fun but unintelligable to your average 30 year old. £7.99
The Top Trumps Specials is a fun card game pitting Moshlings against each other. £3.99
Robust Soft toy Moshlings can also be purchased for £6.99 with each containing a secret code for a free in-game item.
Moshi Membership Cards unlock all the premium Moshi Monster features and are priced at £4.95 for one month or £19.95 for six months.
So is Moshi any good or just a passing trend? There’s no doubting the brand keeps on growing.
And, as our nine-year-old tester Emily says: “All my friends love Moshi Monsters. They are really good. And funny. I love the magazine and the online games are great.”
