What is it?
Home safety brand Lindam, have launched a new safety gate featuring a Push to Shut closing system that securely locks the gate in place. The PushLoc system allows adults to open the gate with one hand by a squeeze and push down handle. It connects to the wall through a four point Pressure Fit and U shaped power frame.

A well fitted and reliable safety gate is an absolute must in any family home once a baby starts to move. They are ideal for use at the top and bottom of the stairs, and every room you want to keep a baby out of.

But though gates need to keep the baby out, they need to be easily opened by adults with one hand. The new Push to Shut safety gate works by an adult squeezing together two blue buttons with one hand and pushing down on the handle to allow it to clip or unclip underneath.

As with all Lindam baby gates, this one was a breeze to fit. You place the gate in the doorway you want to block off, pull out the four fittings and tighten them until the gate shuts and it fits tightly to the wall or door frame. The only small spanner you need is included and this is simply to make the gate fit to the wall space. The main body of the gate is completely assembled.

It’s a strong gate and has stood up to pushing and swinging on by toddlers without damage.

Using the handle itself was a little tricky at first. When you are fitting the gate, remember to keep the instructions for use on the side you are sitting on.

It does take a few times to get used to the push down system, particularly if you have a baby gate with a different opening mechanism. But, not only did the gate prove to be toddler proof, but child proof too.

You need to be very precise when shutting the gate. It won’t slam into place quite as easily as the style with a lift-up handle. It does need to be lined up properly.

Happily, the gate is wide enough to get through without clothes getting caught and will accommodate a small buggy. You won’t be able to get a tank sized pram through though.

Best of all…
Toddlers and young children won’t be able to get this gate open.
