What is it? The Summer Fun Playmobil Hotel, is a large kit for you to construct with your children.
It is priced at £99.99, which is a hefty amount for a toy, so is it worth it? The answer is a resounding yes. In fact, buy this for the start of the summer holidays and you will quickly get your money’s worth.
It will require adult assembly, around three hours to get the initial building put together and plenty of patience. This is best as an evening job with a glass of wine and a couple of Netflix movies on standby.
This is a massive kit. It even comes with a unique screwdriver to aid construction.
Once assembled, there are lots of characters and props to create an authentic hotel, right down to a lift, sliding entrance and key card activated doors.
Playmobil in general is great for the amount of play it can generate. This hotel creates many play opportunities. There is construction play, small world play, imagination stimulation, co-operative play sharing with siblings and due to the size of the figures and props, it is perfect for fine motor skills. For a six week summer holiday this works out at £16.50 a week of quality entertainment for youngsters – an absolute bargain.
The set is only suitable for children aged three years upwards due to the tiny parts and it is marketed at ages 4 – 10 years. There are a million teeny tiny pieces that will drive you mad when trying to vac up, but youngsters will love to play with them. Parental discretion may find that twos going on three years will also like to play with this, given close supervision.
If you are thinking of this as a birthday present it is ideal. And, if the in-laws are likely to buy something wholly inappropriate for your child, you can suggest the Playmobil Luxury Hotel Suite (#5269) upgrade set, which adds an additional luxury layer.

The box looked huge when it arrived and I assumed that most of it was just packaging inside, but no. This box is brimming with delightful items that make up a large hotel with all the items needed to stimulate play.
“My three year old and six year old needed no prompting to review this. I am already a firm believer in the value of Playmobil as a toy. This set just confirms its play value to me. If you are dreading trying to fill the summer break with entertainment, Playmobil will fill it. And best of all, it will do the hard work for you.”
