Concrete Broadmead Balls Have Mosaics Removed
The Broadmead Balls are currently being given their annual spruce up – but some balls will never be the same again.

The popular balls, which have served both as public art as well as seating, have been painted green, blue as well as different rainbow colours since their installation. They caterpillar their way through Broadmead West from outside the former Marks and Spencer store.
But the balls with the mosaic design alas will be no longer.

This week, the concrete balls with the intricate mosaic designs have had their decorative tiles removed for safety reasons. They will now be painted alongside the other concrete balls.
Sad times.
