Aardman animation is an institution in Bristol. That a company in this backwater city produced triple Oscar winning animation with Wallace and Gromit, the unforgettable Creature Comforts (what is forgettable is that people think they advertised British Gas. Um…remember Heat Electric?) is something that us ship shape Bristol types can be proud of.
Well here we are with a gorgeous Cry Baby Timmy from Golden Bear to play with.
Cry Baby Timmy is one of Shaun the Sheep’s friends. He is a dear little lamb with a dummy in his mouth. Pull the dummy out and he shivers, shakes and cries until the dummy is put back in. Then he makes contented sucking noises.
We tested this delightful toy firstly with Chopsy Child Sid. In an unexpected show of solidarity he would not pull the dummy out of the sheep’s mouth. Despite various attempts at making Sid dummy free he still insists on plugging the device into his mouth and takes great umbrage at any attempts to remove it. Grabbing the Cry Baby Timmy, Sid ran off and hid the toy (badly) so the lamb’s dummy was left safely in its mouth.
Sid being from the South West takes sheep in his stride but he was ultra impressed at having a lamb in the house. He said: “Baa” many times, with a variation in pitch and tone, which suggested he was mightily impressed. Though for safety reasons the toy is only suitable for those over the age of three, with supervised access this will be popular for sheep fans below this age.
Our second tester Emily (6) said: “It’s very cute and fluffy and I liked taking the dummy away to make him cry.” Emily is a Shaun fan and avid viewer of the animation.
We love the soft warmness of this robust toy, and though it has a compartment inside to vibrate, it is still very huggable.
The universal nature of the character coupled with the Aardman style and brand would make this a great present for Shaun the Sheep fans, and Timmy is a real cutie.
