Don’t Sneak Coral or Endangered Sea Animals Back From Your Holiday
Don’t bring endangered animals back from your holidays, warns The National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham.
The bizarre warning about the obvious became necessary due to a growing number of people bringing back live animals.
Aquariums are trying to find space to create specialist habitats for rare animals and endangered coral, which has been confiscated at the border by people returning from their holidays.
Curator at National Sea Life Centre Birmingham, Jonny Rudd said: “We are pleased to be able to provide a safe and nurturing home to animals like Mo who have been rescued by our country’s border staff.
“Each and every creature that we look after has different needs and requirements, so our expert team works night and day to provide the best possible conditions for all of them. We understand that there will always be people who want to sneak home a cute creature or fascinating bit of wildlife from their holidays. However, we are asking people to think about the impact on the individual animals’ safety and well-being, as well as the effect on their wild habitats, as a result of illegal collection and not try to bring them home with them.”
