Great George Street Church in Bristol Up for Sale

A Bristol City Mission in St Jude’s, which has been serving the local community since the 1950s has closed its doors and is now up for sale.

The Great George Street Church, had become a focal point locally in its distribution of food and community support as well as being a place of worship.

It is now up for sale on Rightmove, through Lambert Smith Hampton, with a price tag of £200k.

It’s not the first of the Bristol City Mission church buildings to have been sold off, with Owen Street Mission sold in 2001 and subsequently turned into Bristol Central Mosque in 2003.

For several weeks the church had cleared out its entire contents, with local people swooping in to claim furniture, books and clothing.

A local resident told us it was a ‘sad day’ as it had been a ‘vital’ source of food for many struggling with the cost of living.
