Improvements to Bristol City Centre Pedestrian and Cycle Crossing
The Anchor Road to College Green crossing allows thousands of Bristolians safe crossing across the city centre. It is now the focus of attention with old paving stones being removed and replaced with a tarmac surface. The segregated cycling way which leads up to Park Street is also being extended.
The work was scheduled for the summer holidays when footfall is less and families are on holiday.
Diversion will remain in place on approaches to the crossing. Cyclists will be diverted onto Park Street or they may get off their bike and join the pedestrian diversion.
“This is an exceptionally busy part of our transport network so it will be disruptive to pedestrians and cyclists, but we have targeted the summer holidays for these improvements to minimise inconvenience as much as possible,” Cllr Mhairi Threlfall, Cabinet Member for Transport and Connectivity said.
“The completed crossing will make a significant improvement to journeys through this city centre route and completes walking and cycling upgrades we have been making in the central area as part of MetroBus.”
