The Most Loved Christmas Songs in Order of Popularity Are…
Everyone has a favourite Christmas song, or at least a top three. We might not admit which ones they are, but according to a poll by Co-op, most people plumped for 1994 hit ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ by Mariah Carey. It doesn’t matter how rigid a subculture you belong to, it’s difficult not to find the upbeat song heralding a little Christmas spirit.
Over 2000 adults took part in the study which aimed to put Christmas hits into order of popularity.
The 80s ruled the rest of the list, with second place going to Wizard with Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day and Slade rocking into third with Merry Xmas Everybody.
It’s when we hear the first of the Christmas music on the radio or in shops that 49 per cent of people think Christmas really begins. The music is so ingrained in our festive spirit that 65 per cent find themselves singing songs involuntary whilst doing Christmassy things like present wrapping and tree decorating.
