Museum extends opening hours to cope with Banksy fever

Visitors still desperate to view Banksy vs Bristol Museum will have more opportunites to get in as the city council extends weekend opening hours until the end of its run.

The museum will now be open from 10am to 8pm on Saturday, August 22 and again from 10am to 8pm on Saturday and Sunday, August 29 and 30. There are also late night openings until 8pm on Wednesdays, August 19 and 26.

The popular exhibition has seen a staggering 282,000 people through its doors so far, with people coming all over the world to view it.

Waiting times to get in have increased to three hours, with some visitors reporting waits of four hours and not being able to get in at all.

The exhibition is spread across the museum and features more than 100 works.

Deputy head Bristol’s Museums and Art Gallery, Rebecca Burton said: “The extended opening hours should help to ease the situation. There’s no doubting the massive numbers of people who want to see the exhibition and the length of time people are prepared to wait. We want to make sure that as many people as possible get into the show before it closes.
