Parents let children get sunburnt when away on holiday

A quarter of parents with children aged ten years and under, has allowed their youngest child to get burnt when on holiday.

But far from learning from the mistake, 62 per cent admitted it generally happened every time the went away.

The blasé approach to sun safety, was found during research carried out by Sunshine.co.uk.

Further to the jaw dropping admission of the above parents, one in seven parents simply relied on their own children to keep on top of sun protection.

At least 67 per cent of parents were angered by other parents slack approaches to their children’s sun safety.

Of those parents whose child had become sunburnt on holiday, 42 per cent found the incident distressing and 39 per cent were embarrassed.

Just 8 per cent said they hadn’t been bothered by what they had allowed to happen.
