REVIEW: Chopsy Baby is reviewing… The Arm & Hammer® My Way! Spinbrush for children

Arm and Hammer, have recently launched a new children’s electronic toothbrush. The Arm & Hammer My Way! Spinbrush, aims to get children excited about brushing their teeth by allowing them to customise their toothbrush.

The Spinbrush comes in white and blue and white and pink, with 141 decorative stickers.

The head of the toothbrush is not replaceable and it is recommended that brushes are replaced after three months. But, it is possible to replace the AAA batteries in the brush.

The stickers inside are very gender specific. The boys’ designs include sports, dinosaurs, cars, robots and SK8er style. The girls’ include ditzy animals, pretty things, princesses, shopping and words such as LOL , Diva and OMG. Also included are letters to allow the child to put their own name on the brush. The stickers once applied are permanent  and should not be placed on the part of the brush which goes into the child’s mouth.

The average child will have a full set of 20 milk teeth by the time they are three years of age. These start to fall out around the age of five or six years. While some parents don’t feel it’s vital for young children to worry much about them, getting a good oral hygiene routine in place is essential.

Kerry Williams, with her three-year-old daughter Maisie and six-year-old son Harrison.

Kerry says: “My Maisie is really good at brushing her teeth. I started her off at eight months when she had a few teeth and let her do it herself in the bath. Harrison has been a different kettle of fish. I have struggled for years to get him to brush his teeth.

“I have to be honest and say that since Harrison customised his toothbrush with dinosaurs, the battles have halved. He actually really does brush them properly, and though it’s not as long as it should be, the spinning brush makes up for his own lack of effort.

“The stickers are great. They look like they came already on the brush as long as you apply them properly.

“Both children had a battery operated toothbrush prior to this that cost twice as much as this one does. They had to be binned as they fell apart before the end of the three months, even though it came with a replacement head.

“And this one has a really chunky on/off button that both the children can use.”

Best of all…
The on and off switch is easy for little hands to use.

Could improve…
Nothing, though the toothbrush ideally needs replacing after three months.

Basically…
A nice toothbrush for reluctant brushers.
