REVIEW: The Flexibath

Chopsy Baby is reviewing… The Flexibath

The Flexibath, is a clever, modern baby bath designed to take up the minimum of space by folding flat. Designed by Niels Peter Estrup, the Flexibath is made from hard plastic with soft folding lines made of flexible rubber. It will fold up and easily pop behind a cupboard. The bottom has a non-slip surface and drain plug. Though it looks smaller than traditional baby baths, it claims to hold two babies aged birth to four years of age. It comes in a wide range of traditional and funky colours to suit all tastes. The bath is both ‘gender bending’ BPA (Bisphenol A) and PVC free.

Trish McDonald and five-month old Elsie.

Trish says: “ I have a normal Mothercare baby bath which I have been using since Elsie was born. It’s made of a hard plastic and though it is cumbersome in our little bathroom, I have just stored it in the bath when not used. I have got on with my traditional bath pretty well to be honest.

“I have now for a week been testing out a purple Flexibath. This is a really good product because once you have finished using it you can just drain it, dry is and store it behind furniture. It clips together too.

“I thought my original bath was big, but when I sized it up next to the Flexibath I found it was actually much smaller.

“The Flexibath is very strong and I can’t foresee any problems occurring with the rubber. It seems to be crafted really well. Despite the higher price I think it is a bargain. You can take it on holiday, camping because it will fold down in the car.

“I think it will also be good as a little paddling pool for the summer when Elsie is a bit bigger. The bottom isn’t slippery like a paddling pool and it’s big enough to fill it quite high.

“I can see two babies up to 18 months to two years possibly sharing, but I can’t see more than one older children fitting. A four year old on their own or with a baby possibly.”

Best of all…

It is compact, works well and looks good.

Could improve…

Nothing, but a tiny newborn may be easier to handle with a bath support as there is no gradient in the Flexibath. They won’t be able to lie flat unless the water is very shallow.

Basically…

The Flexibath will see you through from a newborn’s first bath right through until four years of age. Even then, it is likely to have a million other uses including hand washing clothes, paddling pool or fold up behind the wardrobe for baby number two.
