Review: VTech Playtime Bus with Phonics
It’s a VTech classic that has been entertaining and educating children for nearly 15 years. This 2014 version is up-to-date with modern technology and teaching ideas.
The Playtime Bus uses over 100 questions relevant to the curriculum and helps children with their letter names, sounds, numbers and counting.
It stimulates the imagination with its tens of children’s songs and bus sound effects.
As with all things VTech, the quality is good. It’s robustly made and will stand up to the punishing play of toddlers. Short of smashing it with a sledge hammer, the Playtime Bus will cruise through all kinds of trauma and still be left looking pretty good.
It’s aimed at children aged from one-three years, familiarising them with the early elements of formal educational building blocks.
The VTech Playtime Bus was tested out for Chopsy Baby by Chloe Wynchcombe and her one year daughter Alice and three year old son Zach.
Chloe Says: “Both Alice and Zach really enjoyed playing with this toy. I don’t have many battery operated toys for them because changing the batteries is annoying. Also, you can guarantee they will start singing and dancing the minute your baby has fallen asleep.
“Zach liked this more than Alice. I think because he was older and easily drawn into the singing and interactive elements. Alice, liked to push it along and mimic some of the phonics, so I suppose it’s helping to sink in at an early age.
“It’s nice to have a plastic toy and one with batteries that is well made. I despair at the constant stream of toys coming into our house that are badly made with shoddy plastic that cracks quickly.
“I have come across VTech toys in the past. Zach loved their push along baby walker. This one is just as good quality.”
