Santa’s Rooftop Scramble from Ravensburger – Review
A board game at Christmas is a great traditional Brewhaha opportunity and Santa’s Rooftop Scramble from Ravensburger, proved as aerodynamic as Monopoly.
It always takes a while to get into the flow of a new board game, its rules and objectives. The great thing about being the parent in charge now means that you can read through the rules and discard the ones that are likely to cause the biggest arguments.
In its most simplest way, the object of the game is to collect all the presents on a child’s letter to Santa and delivery them before the others. Most of the play centres on a spinner before the Father Christmas even hits the board. Once a Santa is in play, the game is over in no time at all. This is because the winner’s final destination could be the first square on the board or the last square.
With a few adjustments according to ages and temperaments, this is a fun game to play. It’s aimed at children aged five years and upwards, though there’s nothing to stop younger children playing too.
The only negative is that the house numbers on the board are muddled to reflect the odds and evens on a street. This confused children who couldn’t understand why the numbers weren’t in the right order.
The quality of the game and its pieces is good and with care will last for years.
Ideal for occupying young children who find waiting for Christmas day an absolute chore.
