Tried and Tested: The Organic Baby Range by Daniel Galvin JR

The Organic Baby Range by UK organic hair and beauty expert Daniel Galvin JR, has been created specifically for the wafer thin sensitive skin of tiny babies.

Daniel was motivated to create the range following the birth of his own child.

To his horror, he discovered the type of chemicals put into baby products    included such things as the commonly used sodium lauryl sulphate,  an industrial floor cleaner and engine degreaser.

He says: “I was interested in what went into baby shampoos so started to do some research on the ingredients. Chemical ingredients found in hair products can ‘charge up’ kids like sugary junk food. 60% of these ingredients are easily absorbed into the skin so you can imagine the harm it could cause in the long term.”

The bathing products include certified organic ingredients and feature three different blends of organic essential oils certified by the Soil Association.

Bristol mum-of-one, Hayley Wyatt tested out the organic baby shampoo with Soothing Chamomile and the baby body wash with Calming Lavender.

Chamomile is used for its ability to soothe and calm problem skin and wounds.

As well as being a popular herbal tea, it is also commonly used as the main property in natural pain relieving powders for teething babies.

The baby body wash, is made with 76 per cent organic ingredients and Calming Lavender.

Lavender is a popular ingredient in baby products commonly used in baby massage oils to aid sleep.

It is also known for its natural anti-inflammatory properties.

Hayley swapped her usual baby products for Daniel Galvin JR’s when bathing her   three-month-old son Harvey.

She says: “After my Harvey was born, I suddenly became cautious about what ingredients actually went into baby products.

“Midwives recommended to me to clean my baby’s bottom with nothing but water and cotton wool, so I suddenly became really suspicious at the rows of bathing products aimed at small babies.

“So many products claim to be ‘natural’ but when you look at the label on the back they read like a chemical recipe.

“I suppose what I liked about using these organic products is that they do smell different to start with, especially the lavender which smells really natural rather than synthetic.

“It’s reassuring that the bottle actually says not to expect it to lather up too much due to the replacement of chemicals for the natural products.

“I suppose they are a little more than what I would usually pay for baby body washes, but I found I needed so much less and it worked out to be economical in a different way.

“I was happy with them and enjoyed using them. I found the lavender scent helped me chill out too.”

The full baby range includes shampoo, body moisturiser and body wash.
