51 per cent of mothers want a C-section second time around

A total of 51 per cent of mothers who have already given birth would prefer to have a caesarean section for their next child.

According to a survey of more than 1,700 women with one child or more, of the 68 per cent who had a vaginal delivery, 51 per cent found the pain too much and 8 per cent had an off-putting bad experience.

Jill Tovey, spokesperson for BabyChild.org.uk which had carried out the poll said: “Having a child is the most beautiful gift that nature could give to a woman, but what should be the most amazing moment can sometimes turn into a bad experience and women should not feel guilty about opting for a C-section. The idea of giving birth can be scary and distressing. The most important thing is to make sure that the mum is comfortable knowing how she is going to give birth to her baby, even more so if it is her first one.”
