New mirror for midwives

A new and safe mirror has been developed to assist midwives and mums in labour.

Virginia Howes, an independent midwife from Ashford in Kent developed a stainless steel mirror for maternity departments and birthing units in a bid to increase the country’s low normal birth rate.

Being made from polished stainless steel I can be sterilised, which can’t be done with breakable glass or plastic.

Virginia who runs Kent Midwifery Practice, one of the busiest private
midwifery businesses in the UK, said “The mirror is made from highly
polished stainless steel so it can be sterilised unlike glass mirrors, it
will not break, has no sharp edges and is angled so a there is a good view
of baby for midwife and mother in whatever position the mother chooses to
birth in”
