Cameron surname top of the baby name list

Conservative leader David Cameron, may be making cuts hurting parents across the UK, but Cameron has been revealed as the most popular surname given as a baby’s first name.

A total of 26,401 babies born between 2000 and 2010 were given Cameron as their first name, found parenting club Bounty.

The second most popular surname given as a first name is Tyler, followed by Harrison, Taylor then Logan.

Spokeswoman for Bounty.com, Faye Mingo said: “Our records have uncovered the trend for parents looking to surnames for first names as they search for something a bit more unusual than the norm. And with a lot of influence seeming to come from famous figures – perhaps it won’t be too much longer until we bump into an Obama in the supermarket!”
