Ofsted inspections to be prioritised by parent survey response
London parents will be able to tell Ofsted what they really think about their child’s school.
A new online questionnaire allowing parents and carers to give their view about their child’s school at any time of the year has been launched today.
Parent View currently covers more than 2,500 schools in the London area.
Ofsted anticipate that the results of surveys filled in will help them decide which schools will be a priory for inspection.
The closed questions have been developed by a panel of parents and are similar to those handed out during an Ofsted school inspection.
The results for each school will be published in real time on the website and saved at the end of the academic year.
Ofsted claim that their system can not be misused, simply by allowing only one entry per email address.
Baroness Sally Morgan, Ofsted Chair said: “What parents tell us through these questionnaires will be considered when making decisions about when a school should be inspected. Whilst parents’ views alone cannot trigger an inspection, they will provide a vital piece of the jigsaw. I hope that mums and dads in London will use Parent View to make their views count.”
