Flexible work requests now open to everyone
It’s been incredibly essential for new parents coming back to the work place and now changes to employment law will allow all employees to make a formal request for flexible working.
Coming into force today, employers should be prepared for the changes, which affect all employees who have been working at the company for at least 26 weeks.
Employees can apply for flexible working for any reason and will be able to make one written request every year.
Once the request has been done, the employer must meet with the employee to discuss the proposal and to work through the application.
The whole process, including appeal, must be completed within a three month period.
Businesses are being urged to become up-to-date with the new changes, with failure to comply with the procedure resulting in hefty compensation.
