Top insurance claims relating to children’s damage

Crayon on the Farrow and Ball and smashed ornaments are par for the course with children, but some parents are keen to claim on the insurance for such incidents according to Swinton Insurance.

A third of parents make at least two home insurance claims for damage their children have caused averaging £418 each time.

The online research polled over 1000 UK adults that have children living with them, compiling the findings into the most common child related claims:

Drawing on, painting or tearing wallpaper from walls (57 per cent)

Smashing ornaments, vases, photo frames and crockery (43 per cent)

Spillages on carpets or floors (24 per cent)

Breaking windows and doors (21 per cent)

Damaging furniture and beds (16 per cent)

Breaking electrical items including TVs, laptops and games consoles (13 per cent)
