Parents-to-be waste up to £150 on Hospital Bag Items They Don’t Even Use

Parents-to-be are really buying into giving birth, with some spending up to £150 on their hospital bag.

According to findings by George at Asda, 24 per cent of parents are cluttering these expensive bags with items such as picture frames, iPads and massage oils despite them usually remaining unused.

The hospital bag is usually packed near the end of pregnancy and should contain basic essentials for going into hospital, giving birth and coming home with a baby.

A typical bag in the past might have included maternity pads, breast pads, baby hat, baby grows, wet wipes and nappies.

But these days, they are being stuffed with items such as mood lighting, fragrance diffusers, lip gloss and tea bags.

Only ten per cent of people taking part in the study managed to keep to basics putting together a bag for £10 or less.
