Parents Loose Quality Time with Children to Housework

Finding time to actually play with your children is an impossible task as the few hours between returning from work and bedtime are filled with mundane but necessary chores.

In fact, research finds that 83 per cent of parents do spend more time cleaning, cooking and carrying out important admin jobs instead of having fun with children. But, we also get too stressed if we leave jobs to be done later.

Slumberdown polled 2000 parents, finding that the average parents spends almost four hours a week caught up with household tasks compared to three hours and 28 minutes they managed to spend with their children.

The ten dreaded activities that got in the way of family fun were found to be:

1. Household chores
2. Long working hours
3. School timetables
4. Children’s homework
5. The children would prefer to play computer games
6. Everyone in the family is too busy on computers/phones/tablets
7. The children would rather watch TV
8. Anti-social working hours
9. Children’s extra-curricular activities
10. The children would rather go to their friend’s houses
