School Child Approached by Stranger in Portishead:

Police are looking for witnesses after an 11-year-old girl was approached by a man on her walk home from school.

The incident happened on Wednesday 09 May at 3.20pm at the junction of Fennel Road and Thyme Close in Portishead.

A man in a blue VW saloon pulled up and offered her a lift. He then got out of the car and started to walk towards her.

The man who is described as white, aged about 60, of ‘skinny’ build with grey hair and was wearing glasses.

Officers will be visiting the child’s school carrying out house to house enquiries in the area.

PC 1441 Tony Hussey said: “This young girl did exactly the right thing by drawing attention to the situation and then running home to tell someone straight away. We’re very keen to trace the passer-by, a man who was on foot.

“Anyone with any information which could help our investigation is asked to get in touch online, or by calling 101, quoting reference 5218100503.”
