Police Continue High Visibility in Castle Park Bristol

Police Patrol Castle Park Bristol:

Castle Park is a much needed green space in Central Bristol for local families to get out of flats and apartments. But highly visible drug dealing and antisocial behaviour has made it a difficult space to use at times.

Officers from Avon and Somerset have really stepped up to tackle bad behaviour in the park and have been continuing to patrol the space as part of an ongoing plan.

“Castle Park has, and remains to be, a popular city centre location and is still overwhelmingly a safe and positive space for all,” Inspector Martin Rowland said.

“However, there are a small minority of people that do use the park for illegal activity such as anti-social behaviour (ASB), drug dealing and the carrying of weapons.

“No one should feel intimidated by the actions of other people and we will use whatever powers we have at our disposal to ensure Castle Park remains a pleasant place for everyone.”

Police say there was an ‘increase’ in calls from members of the public prompting the police to step-up their presence.

Throughout the summer, officers issued section 35 Dispersal Notices, which gives them powers to make individual troublemakers leave the area.

One 24-year-old woman was finally charged with failing to comply with a dispersal notice as well as two counts of assaulting a police officer.
