Castle Park Murder – Arrests Made
Five people have so far been arrested as part of an ongoing murder investigation following the death of a man stabbed in Castle Park in Bristol this week.
Emergency services were called to Fairfax Street, after a 36-year-old man was found injured on Tuesday 31 January at 4.30pm.
A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday afternoon. Uniformed officers, with support from specialist units including the drone and dog unit, attended an address in Henleaze, Bristol, where they detained the man.
Four further arrests have since been made. A 26-year-old man and a 22-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder. A 36-year-old man and 23-year-old man have also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
All five remain in police custody.
Police say they are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forwards who may have seen an altercation or any suspicious behaviour involving two groups of men – all of whom were black.
They say: “If you saw anything, or have any mobile phone footage or images which might help our investigation, please contact us.”
The incident took place in the park opposite the junction of Union Street and Wine Street, with two people in possession of bikes.
Police say: “If you were in the park between 4-4.30pm and think you saw any suspicious behaviour, please call 101 and quote reference number 5223024599.”
