Bristol Struggles To be UK’s Most Accessible With Missing Benches

Despite a Golden motion in Full Council to make Bristol the ‘UK’s Most Accessible City’ the south west still lags behind with access and inclusion.

Currently, a significant number of benches where Broadmead and Merchant Street cross are missing.

The benches which are also removed each year for the Christmas Market, are a vital resource for Disabled people and those with long term and chronic conditions to sit down.

New wooden benches have been appearing in central areas, including Gloucester Street towards St Pauls.

But more needs to be done in and around the central shopping area if Bristol is to make the running of the UK’s Most Accessible City.
