Who's Been Parking in My Space?

New research from the Depart for Transport (DFT) revealed disabled drivers in the South West struggled to find a space to park.

The latest study showed that 73 per cent of disabled drivers found vital parking spaces difficult to find.

In the South West results also showed that nearly 1 in 10 Blue Badge holders admitted to giving their badge to a friend or relative to use.

A staggering 37 per cent believed this misuse ‘doesn’t harm anyone’ despite their struggle to find an empty disabled space to park themselves.

In the same survey 46 per cent of non-Blue Badge holders say that parking in a disabled space without a valid Blue Badge is totally unacceptable.

Badge holders are being urged to help support the scheme by receiving information on using their Badge responsibly. This includes informing their local authority if their circumstances change and not lending their Badge to others.
