White Ribbon Alliance support International Women’s Day

Next Monday 8 March is the 100th year of International Women’s Day 2010.

The White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood (WRA), Amndesty International, Save the Children, Oxfam, One, Care, Women for Women, Mumsnet, RCN and RCM will be working together to urge world leaders to put mother and child health at the front of their policy priorities.

Internationally, one women will die every minute and 2 million newborn babies are lost every year due to preventable pregnancy issues.

Women in sub-Saharan African and south Asian countries most at risk.

The WRA will be holding a March on Parliament on 12 March and are asking their supporters to send them Mothers Day cards addressed to party leaders calling for a support on the international commitment to help save mothers and children most at risk.
