Acorn Bristol Petition Aims to Make Bristol City Council Continue With HMO Landlord Licensing

Housing campaigners in Bristol fighting for tenants rights, are highlighting action being taken by landlords in the city to opposing housing regulation proposals.

Bristol City Council is aiming to make landlords renting out Houses of Multiple Occupancy apply for a licence to guarantee better safety and housing conditions. These new licences will also mean all the necessary safety and fire regulations and certificates must be in place.

The new licence scheme will cover central areas of Bristol from Clifton to Easton, forcing HMOs in these areas to be inspected.

Some landlords are currently lobbying the council to stop the proposals spurring Acorn to launch a petition urging the council to follow through and extend the city’s Landlord Licensing.

The new proposals will cover Clifton Down, Central, Cotham, Clifton, Hotwells and Harbourside, Southville, Windmill Hill, Ashley, Bishopston and Ashley Down, Easton, Lawrence Hill, and Redland.
