Bank holiday real time travel planner

Travellers can help themselves to beat the bank holiday misery this weekend with the Directgov website.

With a range of transport and traffic tools, holidaymakers can plan the most effective route to their destination.

Drivers will be able to access real-time information on traffic congestion, accidents and roadworks as well as see information on future roadworks and predicted delays.

Public transport users can go straight through to  live departure boards and information on planned changes to the advertised schedules.

For people already in transit, a mobile service keeps travellers up-to-date with the traffic or departure information – just text TRAVEL to 83377

For more information and to access these services visit: www.direct.gov.uk
