Bath Abbey – Tower Tour is a Must Do
Bath is a really short venture from Bristol and so easy to get to. If you don’t drive, it’s a quick journey by train and only a marginally longer one on the X39 from Bristol bus station.
There’s so much to do in the city from history, culture, theatre and heritage. An absolute must-do to put on the list is Bath Abbey. The imposing building sits in the centre of the city next to the Roman Baths. A drizzly day in November was the perfect time to visit. Tourism has calmed right down and the Christmas markets are not open yet, meaning the pace of the day was not as frenetic as mid summer and early December.
Entry to the abbey is by suggested donation. There is a small fee for the Tower Tours. This starts from £3 and is well worth the money. A knowledgeable guide will take you up the 212 steps. You will be able to walk across the roof, sit behind the clock face and learning about the mechanism, see the bell tower and bells and stand on the top of the tower and see the whole of Bath. It’s a stunning view and a really unique and wonderful activity to do.
