Bedminster fails to make top destination baby names

Perhaps it’s best Bristol isn’t a top holiday destination as research shows parents are choosing to call their new babies after places they have stayed.

According to Bounty, more than 18,000 parents in the last decade have named children after destinations including Francisco, Cairo, Devon and even Brighton.

With the more exotic top three names – Florence, Rio and Paris – it’s hardly surprising Horfield, Fishponds, Bedminster or even windy Weston-Super-Mare fails to get a look in.

Spokesperson for Bounty Parenting Club,Faye Mingo said: “With the holiday season upon us, we wanted to take a look at how influenced parents have been by previous trips away when naming their children. Our records show that parents are becoming more and more creative with their choices and increasingly inspired by destinations – with children already called Tuscany, Texas, Capri and China already amongst us!”
