Big Green Week attracts 60,000 people from across the region
Around 60,000 people turned out in central Bristol this weekend to celebrate and tackle green issues.
The Big Green Week taking part in the city drew to a close with the Festival of Nature marking the end of the 9 day event.
Darren Hall, the festival’s co-curator, said: “There has been a great deal of conversation around Bristol and our role as a sustainability leader and as a green capital. Bristol has an incredible ability to do things differently and leading change. Its network of grass roots organisations is unlike any other city. With just 2 weeks to go until the announcement of the European Green Capital for 2014, it has blown me away to hear big names like Vivienne Westwood, Kevin McCloud, and Caroline Lucas talk about how they see Bristol as a sustainability leader, and see so many examples of how Bristolians are already leading such creative, innovative, and sustainable lives. As a Bristolian, I’ve felt incredibly proud.”
