BMJ calls for parliamentary inquiry into MMR fraud
A leading medical journal is urging MPs to investigate how fraudulent research linking the development of autism and bowel disease to the MMR vaccine was allowed to happen.
The British Medical Journal, is asking for an independent parliamentary inquiry into how Andrew Wakefield and another six former senior people managed to cause a decade of mistrust against the MMR.
BMJ editor-in-chief Dr Fiona Godlee says that a further six research papers by Wakefield require independent investigation and that claims a new bowel disease associated with the vaccine has been misreported in the Lancet.
Due to Wakefield’s ‘findings’, the number of measles cases has surged due to parents refusing to allow their child the MMR.
