Bristol Education News – Cabinet Lead for Education Announced

The final line of up Mayor Marvin Rees’ Cabinet has been annouced, with Councillor Helen Godwin taking Cabinet lead for education.

The former Cabinet lead for Education and Skills, Councillor Anna Keen stood down at the May election. Instead of allocating the role to another individual, It was allocated to Godwin’s portfolio. In full, this is now Families, Education and women – the Lead Member for Children’s Services.

The full Cabinet has been announced as:

Mayor Marvin Rees – lead on Transport, Planning and City Design
Councillor Craig Cheney – Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Finance, Governance and Performance
Councillor Asher Craig – Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Communities, Equalities and Public Health
Councillor Helen Godwin – Cabinet Member for Families, Education and Women (Lead Member for Children’s Services)
Councillor Helen Holland – Cabinet Member with responsibility for Adult Social Care
Councillor Nicola Beech – Cabinet Member for Climate, Ecology, Waste and Energy
Councillor Tom Renhard – Cabinet Member for Housing Delivery and Homes

Each Cabinet member is a councillor who takes over responsibility for a specified council activity, usually working with council officers to develop policy which comes to a Cabinet meeting for formal approval.
