Bristol Victorian Heritage Toilets Closed Due To Anti-Social Behaviour
This is why we can’t have nice things like heritage toilets in Bristol.
The urinals at the top of Blackboy Hill near the Downs are temporarily closed by cause of repeated vandalism and the anti-social behaviour the facilities attract.
The Victorian toilets are managed by the Downs Committee. The structure is a heritage asset which means that there are planning regulations protecting them.
“The Downs Committee very much regrets the closure of the urinals, but we felt that we needed to act on health and safety grounds,” spokesperson for the Downs Committee Councillor Don Alexander said.
“While the urinals remain closed we will do everything we can to find a solution that will allow the facility to stay open and which will also respect the historical value of the building.”
