Children skipping breakfast face obesity
Children who skip breakfast are twice as likely to become obese as those who eat cereal every day.
The findings of a new study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition looked at the eating habits of 4000 children.
Those who ate breakfast were more active, fitter and a healthy weight than children who missed the meal out.
Professor Chris Seal of The Breakfast Panel comments: “There is substantial evidence about the benefits of regularly eating breakfast. For children, the risks of skipping breakfast that have previously been shown include being more irritable, performing less well at school, having more behaviour problems, and poorer concentration. This study is very interesting and yet more evidence of the vital role of breakfast.”
