Children's Presents Don't Suffer Credit Crunch
A new study reveals that the average amount of money spent per child will this year still be a modest £111.
Despite the credit crunch woe, according to last years figures this is only down £3. A lucky and rich five per cent of children will have more than £300 spent on them.
The survey commissioned by Toy giant Tomy, took in the views of 1000 parents with children under ten years old.
Money saving parents are looking to make cut backs in other festive traditions to fund this splurge. Christmas trees and decoration budgets are dropping by a huge 35 per cent.
Food spend is set to drop by four per cent as parents in a shocking move are actually planning to make their own Christmas puddings and mince pies.
European Marketing Director for TOMY Sally Plumridge said: ‘When it comes to Christmas presents for children this year it’s less a case of ‘no expense spared’ but more ‘not at their expense’. Quality and a great play pattern are still key features for present buyers looking for gifts for children. TOMY has a 25-year strong heritage in the UK for offering fantastic toys loved by children and parents alike.’
