Chopsy Baby Beauty Review: Asda Little Angels, Cussons Mum and Me, Andrex Washlets, Burt’s Bees and Ecover Mizu

Asda’s Little Angels have introduced two new products to the range. The Dry and Sensitive Hair and Body Wash and the Dry and Sensitive Shampoo. Both products say they have been developed with the dry, sensitive or eczema prone skin of babies in mind. The Sensitive Shampoo says it does not contain parabans, fragrances or colours. Though this is true, both products contain sodium laureth sulfate, a surfactant to create foam. This is a common ingredient in bathing products, soap and shampoos.

There will be those who are happy to pay the extra to guarantee their bathing products are more natural, but as a generic, quick get the toddler clean, this product is cheap and cheerful. 5/10

Another new launch this summer was the Cussons Mum & Me – ‘Motherhood Understood’ range. The products have been designed to address three needs – sleep, skin and hair.

The Emollient Bath Wash is fragrance free and contains Almond Oil. An emollient is a soap substitute, that aims to ease itching, moisturise dry skin and reduce scaling. If your child does have eczema, the chances are you will be using a doctor prescribed emollient. But this product does have a much shorter list of chemicals than the Asda wash, accounting for its higher price.

Also in the new Cussons range is the Baby Sleep Tight Balm (£3.49 20g) which is ideal for both mother and baby to use. The balm contains natural oils and chamomile, to help relax and calm mother and baby. 7/10

Cussons Mum & Me is available in Boots, Sainsbury’s and ASDA

In July, Andrex launched Washlets – Flushable Toilet Tissue Wipes. There are already flushable wet wipe styled tissue wipes for toddlers and this concept has now been extended to adults. These wipes are good quality and won’t rip easily or go long and stretchy like cheap makes sometimes do. They are also great for general dusting, keyboard clean ups, hands, faces and snotty noses. Considered gimmicky by some, there are times in life when these make an excellent addition to the bathroom. 7/10

Mizu, is the new skincare range from Ecover -generally more well known for their eco friendly cleaning products. The Mizu range is made up of naturally sourced ingredients and comes in 100 per cent recyclable packaging. The Simply Moisturising Handcream (priced between £3.50 and £5.50) is great for moisturising and softening dry hands.

To smooth and moisturise wider areas of the body, Simply Nourishing Body Lotion (Priced between £3.50 and £5.50) will leave skin feeling soft and fresh. 8/10

You can’t really go wrong with anything from Burt’s Bees, which uses only mild and gentle ingredients. Two of our favourite products are the Calming Calmant (£8.99 170g) and Talc Free Dusting Powder (£6.99 127.6g).

The Calming Calmant, is a norishing lotion that moisturises a baby’s skin. Of course, it’s more than suitable for adults too. This lotion features a gorgeous blend of lavender and vanilla, to help settle all to sleep at bedtime.

Many a mother-in-law has probably scoffed at new parents who refuse to use talc on their baby’s skin, but it is the right thing to do.  Baby Bee Dusting Powder, is talc free and is made with cornstarch, making it safer for all the family to use. 10/10
