What is it?
The Hallmark Story Buddies, are a set of soft interactive toys featuring a cuddly character and hardback book.

The range includes Watson the Racoon, Cooper the Bear and Jingle the Husky Dog, with Abigail joining them as the first girl of the group.

Abigail is girly, loves tea parties and dressing up. She comes with the story – Abigail and the Balance Beam. Additional stories are available to buy separately.

For those girly girls – and parents will know if they have one or not – Story Buddy Abigail is an ideal reading companion. She has very soft fur and is dressed in a pink leotard and skirt.

The toy appears to be well made. It isn’t cheaply constructed and is unlikely to be broken easily.

The bunny works with an accompanying story book. When certain key phrases are read out with reasonable clarity the rabbit responds back.

It is an impressive toy and perfect as a gift. As well as being a furry friend, research shows that children can become more confident at reading and reading out loud if they have a pet to listen to them rather than an adult. As we can’t all have cats or dogs, Abigail or one of her other story buddies are ideal reading companions for young children.

The pictures in the story are bright and the text suitable for children aged seven plus to read alone. Abigail and the Balance Beam will also be a great story for younger children to share at bedtime with a grown up.
