Chopsy Baby is reviewing… Asda Little Angels organic food range – new tastes

Asda have expanded their Little Angels organic food range, introducing more flavours and packets of organic wholegrain rice cakes. Aiming to help babies self-feed, the puffed rice cakes are firm enough to hold, but gentle on a baby’s teething gums.

The new flavoured pouches of food have been developed with dietician Jane Stobie. The Stage Three pouches are suitable for babies over ten months of age. They contain larger chunks allowing babies to use their newly cut milk teeth.

The three new flavours include:  Peach and apple muesli, fruit medley with rice and carrot and beef casserole.

Reviewed by… Jeanette Lawson and eleven-month-old Harvey.

Peach and Apple Muesli
Jeanette says: “We started with this one first for breakfast. I tasted one spoonful and it had a very gentle peach taste with smallish lumps. Nothing too challenging or advanced. Harvey seemed to enjoy it.”

Fruit Medley with Rice
Jeanette says: “This seemed to taste quite strongly of blueberries even though it was one of the lesser ingredients. It’s good for both a breakfast and a dessert. Harvey wasn’t too keen the first time he tried it, but the second time he ate it all.”

Carrot and Beef Casserole
Jeanette says: “This is a hearty and warming main meal. It was great to give in the evening and I felt when he finished it all he had eaten well. This will be good now the evenings are going to get colder.

“Overall I felt the pouches were a success and Harvey ate all of them. They are quite large and he couldn’t manage all of one in one sitting. The Fruit Medely with Rice was the most successful. I think in terms of price compared to what you get it does work out worth the money, especially as it is organic. It would be good to have a couple of these at the back of the cupboard for those times when the baby gets too tired for the main meal to finish cooking.”

Best of all…
Even if you cook for your baby it is useful to have a few of these in the cupboard for emergencies.
