Chopsy Baby is reviewing… Dry Like Me toilet training pads

Dry Like Me are toilet training pads helping children to move from nappy to pants with fewer accidents.

The pads are suitable for children of any age and are designed to capture small accidents – both wee and poo. They are particularly suitable for use by younger children who say they need the toilet at the second it’s about to come out.

The product has been developed by two mothers, Judith Hough and Diane Titterto.

Judith says:  “Back in 2007, when my son was out of nappies but having accidents, I sought medical advice on how to cope.  I was told to continue with just pants and take my son out of nappies, but this wasn’t satisfactory and I was stressed out by the large washing loads.  I felt there must be a more obvious solution, so the idea for Dry Like Me came from a real need and a gap in the market.”

Chopsy Baby and mother Ali Stevenson

“My two and a half year old is out of nappies, but had a runny tummy the other day. I was thinking of putting a sanitary towel in his pants during the night to stop the entire bed getting soiled. Would this be weird?”

Bristol mother Ali confided her thoughts at a parent and toddler group. The general consensus was yes, it was a bit weird but a practical solution to a problem.

What Ali really needed to solve this problem was Dry Like Me, again, a slightly weird product but practical for these situations.

Dry Like Me are toilet training pads that are suitable for all children needing a little bit of assistance, whether they are just starting to come out of nappies or older children who still struggle to stay dry.

The rustle free triangular shaped pads come in individual bags allowing for easy disposal.

The average volume of a two-year-old’s bladder is 90ml. The pads have been developed to absorb around half of this amount. They are not designed to capture an entire wee or poo – this is the job of nappies, but they will help when a young child says they need to go to the toilet “Now.”

The pads can also be adapted to age and need. Their triangular shaped design means that two can be worn at once, at the front and the back.

Ali says: “I think this is an interesting idea and they certainly would have helped my situation without feeling weird. They do look a little like sanitary towels but they are a much better option than taking a step backwards into nappies.

“With my child I was lucky enough to find the transition from nappy to toilet relatively easy. But, two occasions, one on the bus when my child was first out of nappies and had a wee and the runny tummy incident would have been eased using this product.”
