Chopsy Baby is Reviewing: Honk Honk Baa Baa! and Time For Bed by Petr Horacek
Two lovely flip – flap board back books are out this month from author and illustrator Petr Horacek.
Honk Honk Baa Baa! features seven popular preschool animals. They are delightfully illustrated with accompanying words describing the sound the animal makes and its name.
Of course, there are a million baby books out there in a similar vein. But, this one has genuinely lovely pictures and flows really nicely. It is perfect for reading with a baby on your lap.
The board pages are easy for little hands to turn as the flaps gradually decrease in size and build into a textured colourful cow at the finish.
As well as reading the words, it is a good visual reference when singing songs such as Old MacDonald’s Farm.
Petr’s second new book, Time For Bed, is another flip-flap book in a similar style. Again, the pages are easy for babies to grab and open for themselves. The flaps also build up into a bright patchwork blanket for bedtime.
What is good about this book is as well as reading it with your baby like a story, you can also use it as a visual timetable so your children know exactly what is coming next in the day.
