Chopsy Baby is reviewing… Pure Beginnings

John Lewis is adding South African organic Pure Beginnings to its baby care range. Pure Beginnings is a pH-balanced eco and vegan friendly range of skincare, made without the use of popular beauty evils including petrochemicals, parabens, synthetic fragrances, colourants and sulphated surfactants.

The ingredients are a blend of certified organic and fairly traded African ingredients with traditional herb botanicals. Their use helps to support local farmers and protects the area’s biodiversity.

Pure Beginnings are endorsed by Beauty Without Cruelty South Africa and accredited by Phytotrade Africa.

Kate Williams with six-month-old Olivia

Kate says: “As shallow as it is, I do like the funky image of the owl on the packaging to begin with. The bubble bath is a lovely gentle affair. It has a really earthy aroma with a gentle hint of flowers. It is a gently foaming bath, so if you want a great bubbly affair, you will need to be using one of those products with things like floor detergent. Obviously then it wouldn’t be any good on a baby’s delicate and sensitive skin. This is great for an evening wind-down for bed.”

“Olivia has about six teeth through now at different stages of development. I was given a free toothbrush in one of those free baby packs. So I decided to start off teeth brushing. The toothpaste is gentle in flavour. It reminded me of those purple lavender sweets you can get. It is not thick like a normal toothpaste but more like a cream. It says that it is safe to swallow which is reassuring. But where possible spitting and rinsing is better. Olivia has really enjoyed chewing away on her toothbrush with the paste on it and I am glad I started the routine early.”

Best of all…
The toothpaste is impressive.

Could improve…
Nothing. Great products.

Basically…
An ideal natural and eco friendly range of products to protect the planet and youngsters’ skin.
