Chopsy Baby is reviewing… Scaredy-Cat, Splat! Splat the Cat

OK, so we are a little past Halloween now, but our review copy of Scaredy-Cat, Splat! Splat the Cat, didn’t turn up in time for the big day.

But though Halloween is behind us, this latest in the series of Splat the Cat books from Rob Scotton is pretty good reading anyhow.

The quality of illustrations really sell this book, marking it out from many other children’s books making it onto the market.

Splat wants to be the scariest cat at the school for Halloween. Of course, it doesn’t quite run smoothly for the cat but he wins in the end. There are even a couple of laugh out loud moments for parents reading, all enhanced by the almost-Aardman-meets- children’s illustration style.

This edition comes with a CD of the story read by Phil Jupitus – Great for children who are a little more confident at reading, helping them recogise words and sounds.

Perfect for reading with children aged four years upwards.
